When will they address the real concerns of the people?

Where is the focus we need to bring our nation back to its feet? All I hear is rants and cries that we are doomed because we are not thrifty enough and that for that reason God has deserted us.

I ask you - does God really care about our financial status? I know something about the bible and I'm trying as hard as I can to reference where God brought down his wrath on people for overspending. For greed yes, vanity yes, and bearing false witness, yes, but nothing about not being thrifty.

We must ask ourselves - do we wish to return to the 1600’s when, under the guise of religion, they stole property and put innocent men and women to death? That is what happened in Salem - or has that part of history been rewritten also?

Today we hear talk that gays are barbarians. People who are worked up by the rhetoric from religious fearful have gone live to broadcast this lie nationwide. The result of this has been the murders of US citizens because of who they are. Every day we are bombarded by those seeking office about how the pains of this nation are to be put at the feet of this group or that group. I only hear blame being laid down but never any true remedies to bring us out of this situation we're in.

When will people realize that playing the blame game does absolutely nothing to fix the issues? We can only correct the problems before us by coming together and working with each other, not against each other.

We can remain divided while the greed masters worm themselves even deeper into the fabric of our government or we can work together to release that which we need to unweave from the fabric and remove the defective section.

Troubled Times

Our nation is in deep turmoil, divided and with both halves filled with hate and distrust. We hate certain people because they are moochers or because they are Muslims or because they are gay. We hear that the symbol of liberty is now being labeled as a pagan idol, one that for decades had been the goal of those oppressed in other countries. Are we to believe that the citizens of this nation, a nation based on the concept that all men are created equal, can no longer find common ground so that all can have the same rights? Have we entrenched ourselves so completely in the belief that our opinion is the only one that counts that we refuse to consider the rights of others as well?
This nation has stood for centuries for the belief that your rights and mine are equal, and that no man is meant to be superior over another. Here we stand today divided and torn over the fact that one group cannot allow another the same rights they enjoy. We have become a nation of the selfish, wanting only to guarantee that we have things our way. Democracy doesn't work that way and it was never intended to.

Labor Parade in Wausau Wisconsin

It was announced Sunday by Marathon County Labor Council President Randy Radtke that Republicans were not invited to take part in the Wausau Labor day parade. While some seem to take this as an extreme measure I see it as sending a message to those who are in office. The Republican Party has shown complete disregard for the workers and middle class, so it seems fitting that they are to be omitted from a celebration of labor.

What Mr. Radtke is saying is that the leaders who have shown complete disregard and disrespect for the middle working class are not welcome. He didn’t say if you support the working class and are Republican you’re not welcome. This issue is coming down to the middle class making a stand against what they see as an ongoing attempt to lower their standard of living. Too many people this fear is very real they see it every day and read about it everywhere.

Frankly I am encouraged by the fact that these people are taking a stand and joining their voices together to make a very important statement. For too many years the public has stood by and allowed the takeover of our government by extremist views. It is refreshing to finally see people taking an active role in the governance of this nation. I salute the Marathon County Labor Council and back their decision to exclude anti-labor leaders from the parade.
